Interviewed on July 11, 2023 in Software Engineer
Who are you, and what do you do?
Hello, my name is Anirudh Varshney, and I am from India. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science Engineering. Yes, I am one of those computer geeks often depicted in movies. Currently, I am a student, so I don't have a job yet. My main interests lie in the field of Data Science and Machine Learning. My aspiration is to become a Data Scientist at a big tech company like Google or Microsoft, but I know that's a long-term goal. Unfortunately, the courses offered at my university didn't provide much help in the specific fields I was interested in. As a result, I decided to take up courses on platforms like Coursera and Mimo to improve my skills. I started with a simple 4-week course on Python from Coursera, which provided me with a solid foundation in the language. To further enhance my Python skills, I began practicing on Mimo. Currently, I am still enrolled in a Machine Learning course on Coursera, but I plan to complete it as soon as possible to better equip myself for the field I am passionate about. Additionally, I am proficient in other programming languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, and Scala. I apologize if this makes me sound like a total nerd, but I thought it was worth mentioning. If you are interested in getting to know me better, you can follow me on my LinkedIn profile.
What hardware(tools) and software do you use?
I recently acquired a new laptop called the Dell Inspiron 13 5320, and it has truly transformed my life since I didn't have a laptop before. It is equipped with 16 GB of RAM and an i7 processor, which is more than sufficient for all the tasks I need to perform on it.
For coding purposes, I utilize Visual Studio Code as my primary integrated development environment (IDE) to execute programs in various languages such as C++, Python, and Java. Additionally, I make use of Git Bash for any version control-related tasks.
When working on Machine Learning models, I rely on Google Colab to train and test my models. It provides a convenient and powerful environment for implementing and experimenting with Machine Learning algorithms.
Overall, the combination of my new laptop and the software tools I mentioned has greatly enhanced my productivity and efficiency in coding and Machine Learning tasks.
What would be your dream/dream setup?
Mydream? That’s a good question as I am not someone who keeps a constant dream throughout their lives. But still, I would say the best way to follow my dream is to set real goals and do my best to reach them however I can. I just want to successful enough to live a optimal and comfortable life which will make my family proud.
