Who are you, and what do you do?

I was born on 20th December 1989 in the vibrant city of Baku, Azerbaijan. My name is Aynur Kazimova, and I'm a documentary filmmaker, journalist, and portrait photographer.

My academic journey led me to pursue 'Radio, TV, and Cinema' at Gazi University in Ankara, where I completed my Master's degree. Additionally, I earned my Bachelor's degree with honors in 'Publishing Editing' from Baku State University.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work as a correspondent for both local and international channels, honing my skills and passion for storytelling through various mediums.

One of the proudest moments of my career came in August 2022, when my short film 'Forgotten Dreams' won the local short film nomination at the Sevil International Film Festival. This recognition further fueled my passion for advocating women's rights, and I have been involved as an editor, actress, and director in several short films focusing on this important topic.

Sharing knowledge and empowering others in the world of cinema is also close to my heart. I have had the privilege of working as a trainer in the cinema field, contributing to workshops organized by Y-PEER Azerbaijan.

Beyond filmmaking, my passion for photography led me to achieve second place in a photo competition organized by GIPA University in Georgia in 2023 and the Colorful Caucasus competition in 2020.

I'm also an author, having written an academic article on the representation of women in cinema. My interest in the portrayal of femicide in Azerbaijani online media has driven me to conduct research on this critical issue.

Presently, I am engaged as a media literacy and gender-based language style trainer, promoting awareness and understanding in these areas. Additionally, I am currently working on my second biographical film titled 'Mom and Me,' which I hope will resonate with audiences and shed light on important stories.

My journey as a filmmaker, journalist, and photographer has been an incredible and fulfilling one. I look forward to continuing my efforts to make a positive impact through my work and contribute to meaningful conversations and change.

What hardware(tools) and software do you use?

I use Adobe Premiere and davinci for editing my films but I don't use photoshop for my photos.

What would be your dream/dream setup?

My biggest dream is to become the best auteur director in the world and the best street and portrait photographer.
