Who are you, and what do you do?

Hi! My name is Fleur van Deijck and I live in the Netherlands. Currently, I study Creative Business and I have a degree in Graphic Design. This is my biggest passion. Besides this, I'm a hobby photographer. Last year, I started with analog photography and I love it! It feels like Christmas morning every time I receive the negatives and scan them. If you would like to see my pictures, check out my Instagram. For me, it's all about capturing a certain atmosphere. Last summer, I visited Milan and took many pictures. This gave me so much energy.

You can check out my graphic design work on my website, which I will (try to) update regularly. If you want to see more of my pictures, you can have a look at my Instagram. I upload most of my pictures on Pexels as well.

What hardware(tools) and software do you use?

As a graphic designer, I enjoy working with my hands. I use acrylic paint, like to make collages, As a graphic designer, I enjoy working with my hands as well as digitally. I enjoy working with acrylic paint. It has a certain rawness to it, and it works in every design. When I work digitially, I use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. I enjoy experimenting with gradients, colours, textures and typography. From time to time, I use my drawing tablet to create illustrations.

When it comes to analog photography, I mainly use my Minolta camera and the Kodak Colorplus film roll. The camera is easy to carry and gives me the option to zoom in and out and to change the focus. This is all the control I need for now, but in the future I might want to have more control. When I go on a trip with a small bag, I take my Konika camera with me. It is a small size camera but still allows me to zoom in and out. It is a great camera for taking some snapshots.

What would be your dream/dream setup?

At the moment, my room has all it takes to have a dream setup. I can develop and scan my own film, I have some space to get crafty and I can work from my laptop to create digital art. However, in the future, I would like to have a big studio with a nice view over the sea and a big chill spot. On the inside, I would like to have multiple big computer screens, a darkroom for film development, a gallery filled with my art, and tons of hard drives. You can't have enough of those :). However, fact is that in order to create art as a graphic designer, all you truly need is a laptop and some creative program, like Adobe Illustrator.
