Who are you, and what do you do?

I am Narmin Mammadli, but you may know me by my stage name, Narinjazz. I was born in the beautiful city of Baku, Azerbaijan. Music has been an integral part of my life ever since I was a young child. At the tender age of 5, I embarked on my musical journey, beginning with the piano as my first instrument. However, as time went on, I discovered my passion for singing as a classical vocalist.

After completing my education at the Popular Jazz Department of Azerbaijan University of Arts and Culture, I realized that jazz was my true calling. It wasn't until I turned 20 that I fell in love with this genre. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to devote my entire life to jazz. My ultimate aspiration is to become a professional jazz singer and evoke the most delightful emotions in people through my music.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of participating in various renowned events. I graced the stage of the Baku Jazz Festival in 2016 and 2017, performed at the Riga Jazz stage in 2018, and celebrated International Jazz Day from 2019 to 2022. Additionally, I had the honor of being part of Jazzery Voices in 2021, among many other remarkable experiences.

I must credit my neighbor, Lala Naghizadah, for recognizing my musicality at a very young age. I vividly remember being 2 or 3 years old when she, a piano teacher at the Gimnasium of Art, heard me singing a famous song from the Russian cartoon 'Nu Pogodi'. Her words of encouragement, assuring me of a great future in music, left a lasting impact on me.

As my career progressed, I also had the opportunity to win the Charlie Parker Legacy's Instrumental Challenge in the USA. Furthermore, I have collaborated with talented musicians from around the world, participated in various musical projects, and even appeared on TV shows. What would be your dream/dream setup?

And one of my greatest dreams, or rather, my dream setup, is to not only be famous in Azerbaijan but also in different countries. The thought of sharing my voice and music with people from all corners of the world fills my heart with joy and excitement. There is something incredibly beautiful about connecting with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds through the universal language of music. I envision a future where my melodies and lyrics resonate with listeners across borders, transcending language barriers and touching souls. To be able to bring a sense of unity, love, and inspiration to people from all walks of life would be an absolute dream come true. With each note I sing, I hope to create a musical journey that unites hearts and spreads joy, leaving a lasting impact on anyone who listens.
