Who are you, and what do you do?

Hey, my name is Pari Abbasli, and I am a journalist, podcast host, art and media blogger from Baku / Jabrail, Azerbaijan.

Throughout my career, my works have been featured in prominent platforms and projects like Femmekan, Trilogy News, Akinchi, Facemark, QueeRadar and Radio of Baku State University, allowing me to express my passion for storytelling and creativity to a wide audience.

Currently, I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Journalism, Media, and Globalization at Aarhus University & Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark. I am honored to be a recipient of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship, which will take me to Prague, Czech Republic for my second year at Charles University.

As a journalist, I cover various topics, including gender equality in podcasts, the advertising world, art, entertainment, and technology in articles and blog posts. I conduct interviews on these and other related subjects, engaging in insightful conversations with experts and thought leaders.

For the past two years, I have been serving as an Executive Management Assistant at the Sevil International Women's Documentary Film Festival.

As an Azerbaijani journalist, one of my primary goals is to create a comprehensive archive in our native language. To achieve this, I dedicate myself to producing all of my blogs, podcast episodes, and features in Azerbaijani. This empowering project aims to support women and queer directors in Azerbaijan's documentary film sector while sharing impactful global stories with our Azerbaijani audience. Through documentary films, I've witnessed the transformative power of storytelling, shaping my vision as a journalist.

I am continually exploring new ideas, spheres, and characteristics of journalism and media, seeking to broaden my horizons and make a positive impact through my work.

What hardware(tools) and software do you use?

The software I use depends on the project I'm working on. For my podcasts and video content, I rely on Adobe software like Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition. Additionally, as journalism continues to evolve with the progress of AI, immersive journalism has garnered significant attention from readers. To complement my stories with captivating visuals, I also utilize Adobe Photoshop and Canva to provide readers with engaging visuals throughout the articles.

As a journalist, there's always something to say, and I always try to find new platforms to gather my audience to discuss new topics. That is why in the past, I used to be a Twitch streamer and YouTuber. At that period, I used OBS Studio to enhance my streaming and content creation process. Adapting to various tools has allowed me to enhance my storytelling and create content that resonates with audiences across different platforms.

What would be your dream/dream setup?

As a journalist, my dream setup would be a seamless blend of cutting-edge technology and traditional tools, enabling me to deliver compelling stories with maximum impact. A high-performance laptop with AI-assisted research tools and a creative software suite is essential for efficient and accurate reporting. Additionally, high-speed internet is a must.

As someone who understands the importance of setting the right mood, I would also love to incorporate LED lights into my workspace, just to feel cooler.
